Kshetra respects your privacy and treats your personal information with care. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
Kshetra is a free platform for devotees to discover sacred Kshetras, explore temple traditions and Panchangam, and connect with Purohits. We do not charge devotees or Purohits any commission or fee for using these services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to provide Kshetra safely and meaningfully.
Account Information
When you create or use an account, we may collect:
- Name or profile name
- Mobile number, when verified through OTP
- Email address and basic profile information if you choose Google sign-in
- Preferred app language
- Account and role-path preferences
Location Information
With your permission, Kshetra may collect your approximate or precise location to:
- Show nearby temples and Kshetras
- Provide location-relevant Panchangam
- Help devotees find Purohits within a suitable service area
- Support Purohit service-location and travel-radius preferences
You may decline location permission and use manual location selection where available.
Purohit Onboarding Information
If you choose to offer seva as a Purohit, we may collect:
- Name
- OTP-verified mobile number
- Service locality, city, coordinates, and travel radius
- Availability schedule
- Contact-visibility preference
- A mandatory live selfie captured through the device camera
The selfie is used for profile trust and review. Kshetra does not allow gallery upload for this Purohit onboarding selfie.
Requests and Contributions
When you submit a Purohit request, temple suggestion, correction, or other contribution, we may collect:
- Information you provide in the request or form
- Requested pooja details, date, approximate time, and location
- Your verified mobile number where needed for trusted coordination
- Photos or supporting material that you voluntarily upload
Usage and Device Information
We may collect limited technical and usage information needed to operate, secure, and improve the app, such as device type, app version, IP address, crash information, and interaction events.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use information to:
- Create and protect your Kshetra account
- Verify mobile numbers through OTP
- Preserve your preferences, devotional journey, and saved content
- Show relevant temples, Panchangam, and nearby Purohits
- Process and manage Purohit requests
- Review Purohit profiles before activation
- Prevent misuse, fraud, spam, and security incidents
- Improve reliability, user experience, and app content
- Respond to support requests and legal obligations
3. Purohit Contact Privacy
Purohits choose how their mobile number is shared:
- Public contact: The verified mobile number may be shown only to authenticated, mobile-verified devotees.
- Private contact: The number remains hidden until the Purohit accepts a devotee’s request.
When a devotee submits a request to a Purohit, the devotee understands that their verified mobile number and request details will be visible to that selected Purohit for service coordination.
4. Information We Share
We share information only when necessary to provide the service.
We may share information with:
- A selected Purohit, when you submit a Purohit request
- A devotee, when a Purohit has chosen public contact visibility or accepts a private-contact request
- Trusted service providers that help us operate Kshetra, such as authentication, cloud storage, hosting, notifications, translation, maps, and Panchangam services
- Authorities where disclosure is required by law or needed to protect users, Kshetra, or the public
We do not sell personal data. We do not charge commissions for devotee-Purohit connections.
5. Third-Party Services
Kshetra may use trusted third-party services, including:
- Firebase for account authentication and OTP verification
- Google sign-in, if you choose that option
- Map and location services
- Cloud storage for uploaded images
- Panchangam and language services
These providers may process limited information as required to deliver their services. Firebase Authentication, for example, supports phone and Google sign-in, and Firebase may process information such as phone number, email, IP address, and device/browser information for authentication and security. 6. Permissions
Kshetra requests permissions only when required:
- Location: for nearby Kshetras, location-based Panchangam, and Purohit matching
- Camera: for the mandatory live Purohit onboarding selfie
- Photos/files: only where you choose to upload temple-suggestion evidence or other voluntary media
- Notifications: if enabled, for devotional reminders and request updates
You can manage most permissions through your device settings.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to provide Kshetra, maintain security, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and preserve legitimate account records.
- You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
- Some limited information may be retained where required for legal, fraud-prevention, security, or record-keeping reasons.
- Content submitted for editorial review may be retained where needed to maintain the integrity of Kshetra’s sacred-content records.
8. Your Choices and Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Access or correct your account information
- Change language, notification, location, and contact-visibility preferences
- Withdraw optional permissions
- Request account deletion
- Ask questions or raise a privacy concern

9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information. No system can guarantee absolute security, so please protect your OTP, device, and account access.
10. Children’s Privacy
Kshetra is not intended for children below the age permitted by applicable law to independently provide personal data. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us so we can review the request.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Kshetra evolves. When material changes are made, we will update the effective date and provide notice where required.
